Foreign nationals (WNA) who want to extend their Visa on Arrival (VoA) in Indonesia must now undergo data verification at the immigration office based on the location of their stay. While the verification process happens offline, applications for extension can still be submitted online via evisa.imigrasi.go.id.
“Visa on Arrival extensions—whether it’s an electronic VoA (e-VoA) or a sticker VoA obtained at the airport—can be applied for online. However, the extension will only be granted after immigration officers verify the applicant’s data,” said Felucia Sengky Ratna, Director of Immigration Traffic.
Visit Visa Holders Require an Indonesian Sponsor for Extension
Foreigners with a Visit Visa (valid for 60 days) who wish to extend it must have an Indonesian guarantor or sponsor.
“It’s important for foreign visitors to assess their plans before coming to Indonesia. If they intend to stay more than 60 days, they should prepare a sponsor early on. For shorter stays, a visit visa without a guarantor is still an option,” Sengky added.
Key Legal Reference
These updated requirements are outlined in the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights (Permenkumham) No. 11 of 2024, which amends Permenkumham No. 22 of 2023:

Article 97 covers the requirement of immigration office verification for visa extensions.

Article 98 explains the conditions under which a sponsor is required for a visit visa extension.
Importantly, foreigners will not be penalized for overstaying as long as they apply and pay for the visa extension before their current visa expires.
How to Extend Your Visa Online
To extend your Visa on Arrival or Visit Visa, visit evisa.imigrasi.go.id and follow these steps:
- Click “Extend My Visa” on the homepage.
- Enter your passport number, country of origin, and date of birth.
- Complete the extension form and proceed with payment via Visa or Mastercard.
If you received your VoA at the airport counter:

Click on “Services” at the top-right menu.

Select “Find Existing Stay Permit”.

Enter your personal details, and your VoA information will appear for extension.
